Welcome to Smallwater Estate

Nestled in the valley of the picturesque Geographe region, Smallwater Estate is a somewhat unusual combination of Marron Farm and Vineyard.

Formerly a contract grape grower for Cape Mentelle, John Small decided to produce under his own label in 2006 when John Durham their winemaker for over two decades offered his services to make his first vintage under his own label.

Smallwater Estate now produces a very fine Zinfandel and a limited amount of Chardonnay. There is a 2008 Shiraz currently in barrel that will be bottled in May 2009.

A benefit of co-existing with a Marron farm is the fact that no pesticides are used on the vines.  While this creates more work for John and his team, it is comforting to know that the grapes used in Smallwater Estate wines have not been subjected to any toxic chemicals.
